Robotics solutions from KAPP NILES

Robots are taking on increasingly demanding tasks. They move faster, work with greater precision and are becoming ever more compact and flexible. This also places greater demands on their drive systems. After all, every movement begins with components that transmit forces, move to exact positions and function reliably under high loads. This is where the quality of the gearing makes all the difference.

KAPP NILES provides you with the machinery and technology solutions that enable you to manufacture gear teeth and profiles for demanding robotics applications with precision and cost-effectiveness.

Precision at the heart of the robot

Compact, precise, powerful: cycloidal gearboxes enable high gear ratios whilst maintaining a compact design, and are characterised by high torque capacity, rigidity and low wear. This makes them particularly suitable for demanding applications such as the drive systems of industrial robots.

Their key components – cycloidal discs and ring gear housings – require high-precision profile machining. KAPP NILES offers high-performance technologies and solutions for this purpose.

Suitable series

Are you looking to manufacture cycloidal gearboxes and searching for the right grinding machine? Our KX 500 FLEX offers a unique combination: it combines dressable cylindrical grinding of external gears with the ability to machine internal gears using CBN profile grinding wheels. Machines from the ZE series, as well as the KX 300 P and KX 260 TWIN, are also ideally suited for grinding components for cycloidal gearboxes. Find out more about the product details:

What drives humanoid robots

Mechanical components transmit forces and movements through the joints of humanoid robots, thereby having a significant influence on their dynamics and efficiency. Whether rotary actuators in the hips and shoulders or linear actuators in the arms, legs and fingers: precision-manufactured components with the highest dimensional and surface quality form the basis for precise, reliable and quiet movements.

Precise measurement of the smallest components

As humanoid robots become increasingly miniaturised, gear geometries are also becoming smaller – and this places greater demands on manufacturing and quality assurance. The KNM 2X analytical measuring machine enables the precise measurement of the smallest and most delicate components, thereby laying the foundation for reliable manufacturing processes.

The KNM 2X has been specifically adapted to meet the particular requirements of humanoid robotics. A specially developed carry-over system and an adapted support on the counter-holder side enable the safe and precise measurement of even small components, whilst ensuring gentle, form-fitting support.

A wide variety of components with special features can be measured: involute and non-involute gears, worm profiles and geometries with positional references.

Economical grinding of small gears

As humanoid robots become increasingly miniaturised, the demands placed on grinding processes are rising. KAPP NILES combines machines, tools, technologies and measurement systems from a single source to machine even the smallest gears precisely and cost-effectively. The close coordination of all components enables flexible manufacturing solutions – from machining from solid stock to the grinding of the smallest gears and radii.
