Award of the Dr. Kapp-Vorbildpreis 2025

11.07.2025 - Bad Staffelstein | bayme rewards apprentices in Upper Franconia (Germany) for their voluntary work

For the 21st time, the Bavarian Metal and Electrical Industry Association (bayme) presented the Dr. Kapp Vorbildpreis Award to apprentices from member companies in Upper Franconia (Germany) who are socially and voluntarily committed to helping their fellow human beings. A total of 39 young people were honoured for their commitment at Kloster Banz.

We are particularly proud of our apprentice Laurenz Bosecker (industrial mechanic), who was honoured for his commitment to the Ottowind Volunteer Fire Brigade, the Landjugend Meeder e.V. and TV 1869 Ottowind e.V.

Commitment to society

In his laudatory speech, Matthias Kapp emphasised how important it is to get involved in the community, even in economically challenging times: "It is impressive that young people are not discouraged, but continue to work courageously in voluntary positions. We are grateful to all the young people in Upper Franconia who are so committed. With the Dr. Kapp Vorbildpreis Award, we are rewarding them for their commitment."

Patrick Püttner, Managing Director of the bayme Upper Franconia office, explained that young people learn skills through their voluntary work that will also help them in their careers. ‘Social commitment requires creativity, a solution-oriented approach and a spirit of innovation,’ said Püttner. ‘To ensure the competitiveness of our region, it is important that we leverage existing potential by providing targeted support to our young people. These young people are our economic and social future.’

In his speech, Thomas Engel, Vice-President of the Upper Franconia Regional Council, emphasised the importance of voluntary work for society: ‘Your voluntary work cannot be valued highly enough.’

Young people from all Upper Franconian companies in the metal and electrical industry that belong to the bayme business association were eligible to apply for the Dr. Kapp Vorbildpreis Award. The winners were selected by a jury that included training managers from Upper Franconian companies. A total of 10,000 euros in prize money was awarded.
