A long-standing tradition for a good cause: for many years, the KAPP NILES Group has refrained from giving Christmas gifts to business partners and instead supports charitable organisations and projects in Coburg and Berlin. This year, five organisations received a total of 14,000 euros: the ASB visiting dogs group, Ilios gGmbH, the Kinderkeller at the Kulturhochhaus Marzahn, the BRK youth emergency response unit, and Hilfe für Nachbarn Coburg e.V.
At the company’s headquarters in Coburg, brothers Michael and Matthias Kapp, who manage the company in its third generation, welcomed representatives of the organisations. “We are delighted to support your social commitment with our donation and to learn more today about your work and the challenges you currently face,” emphasised the Managing Directors.
Dog Visits for Senior Citizens
The ASB (Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund) visiting dogs group in Coburg received 4,000 euros. The team of 40 volunteers and their dogs visits 15 residential care homes in the region every month, providing welcome variety and joy in the daily lives of senior citizens. The dogs are also involved as reading dogs in primary schools. Children who find reading aloud in front of the whole class challenging are able to overcome their fear of reading in a safe and supportive environment. Donations enable additional visiting dogs and their owners to be trained for this work.
Neighbourhood Centre in Berlin
The Kinderkeller at the Kulturhochhaus Marzahn was also awarded 4,000 euros. Since 1994, children aged six to 14 have been cared for there. Activities range from play afternoons and homework support to international holiday trips. For around 100 regular visitors, the Kinderkeller is a second home where they learn participation and receive support. The neighbourhood centre also organises festivals attended by more than 1,000 children each year.
Supported Living in Coburg
The KAPP NILES Group donated a further 2,000 euros to Ilios gGmbH in Coburg. Its team provides outpatient support for around 30 people and supports a further 12 people in a shared housing arrangement who require assistance in everyday life due to mental health issues and addiction-related illnesses. Structured daily activities such as a cooking group and short excursions help those supported to cope with challenging life situations and bring stability to their lives.
Supporting the Youth Emergency Response Unit
Once again, managers and retired employees joined the donation initiative. Department heads and the management team donated 1,500 euros to the BRK Coburg emergency response unit for its youth section. Children and young people aged between six and 16 have been actively involved there for 25 years.
KAPP NILES retirees donated 2,500 euros to Hilfe für Nachbarn Coburg e.V. For 15 years, the association has been providing rapid and unbureaucratic assistance to people in the city and district of Coburg who find themselves in emergency situations.
At its Coburg and Berlin sites, KAPP NILES manufactures grinding machines that are used, for example, for the high-precision grinding of gears.
